The idea is funny until the hard stop. Then its just obnoxious, while encouraging people to hose their Kong data. Why kong is encouraging something that is going to give them a tech support headache is beyond me. Anyway, possibly fun and well done ruined due to needing to make a stupid joke.
Actually I feel the need to modify my previous comment as it was over harsh... I still think that the 'revenge waves' are somewhat hacky, but I actually prefer it over the option of having the computer have access to magic. I think the main problem regarding them is that it does provide a balance but in a manner which is highly frustrating. They drag battles out in a manner which is contrary to most gaming experiences: when you finally are managing to attack your opponent's base, you're doing so by having defeated their troops. Here, its an endless wave of monsters.. and when you fight through them and begin to attack, you get a few thousand more dropped on you. I see the reason for doing it this way, but its still not the most enjoyable mechanic you could have used.
Regarding 'revenge waves'. Unfair.. not really. A crutch used due to total inability to design game mechanics? Yes. Game's beautiful, well coded, but that doesn't mean its well designed.
Really don't get why this game is being loved so much.. difficulty is annoyingly hard as opposed to challenging. Its overly repetitive and just not all that great. Downgrade from the first game.
This game is pretty horrid, the limited range of attacks with inability to compensate means that you're pretty well hosed at level 2. And the slot machine mechanic is just annoying, 0-15 with no control makes it an actual slot machine sim, and no one in their right mind would want to play such a thing.
Its ok, the last move is pretty obscure though. Once you build the punch gun, you need to take the glue (small blue container, hardish to find), then go back to the punch gun station and apply it to the gun. Rather.. non-intuitive.
Not much of a fan, and it seems to be suffering from Mario Kart Syndrome. 'whats that? You're fully maxed and in the lead? Uh... ya, they're all now as faster than you. Sorry.' Blah.
I see all these 'best rpg' comments and have to think "Wow, these people have never actually played a non flash game in their lives!" The game is barely touching average people, let it freaking go!
I've finally figured out the basic problem with this game. The creator used brute force to solve the problems of the first game, and its caused it to have much less flexability. The first game allowed for multiple tactics to work per level, but ultimately ended up being more effective to simply mass produce max damage mages. Here, the creator forced 'tactics', but they tend to be very specific and require X amount of points. You won't be able to squeak out wins, you'll be able to do it 'right', with a very small margin of variance, or not at all. Thats a rather frustrating way to design a game, sadly. =/
