Perhaps there's a glitch then? Contact with a spider, on my machine, results in death in one second or less. Dealing with enemies in general is rather more frustrating than I think you intend it to be, which is lowering my enjoyment of what is otherwise a promising game. In my first ten or so playthroughs, I haven't yet survived to go down to the next level.
Okay. There's apparently ogres or something down there. They charge at you, but you can dodge. Other critters stop at your location, then explode. Gremlins of some sort steal torches. This seems like a pretty decent game, but could use some form of dealing with the enemies a little better; right now it feels like they strike from the darkness and kill me before I can respond. Perhaps make them slightly more visible when just outside my light radius?
I spent a lot of time thinking about how to deal with combat. In the end, I felt it was better if the combat was more indirect so that it remained as close to the original as possible. The most common way to deal with monsters is to simply avoid them and place bricks to block their path. Alternatively, you can cause cave ins near them or lead them into lava. :)
Spiders do not insta-kill (unless there happens to be a bug), they must be right on top of you for a few seconds. Your screen glows red to represent the damage. You might have been previously damaged by water or lava and the spider finished you off. :)
Yes, clearly a demo, but one that might have some potential. I figured out the spellcasting system, element combinations, and wall jumping, but I'm not sure why running is 'hold shift' rather than a mode to toggle.
I'm assuming some of the prices are just placeholders. Right now it looks like when I'm done with the game I can upgrade my chance of getting a gem by .4%.
Great concept, but the repetitive bashing at the keys is awful. I know that smoother controls probably would break the design vision of a simulation, but the current response to controls impairs the simulation's ability to be fun.
Enemies are near the planets, forcing you to use the tutorial's lessons on gravity and orbits to do close passes. If you don't see any drones near the planets you see, check the minimap - it'll show you how to reach other planets in the system. Feels like this needs more but I'm recommending this to my friends.
Apart from adding some form of storyline, not much to suggest here. The game's simplicity works for it, to the point that I came back to play some more after my fond memories of last time. I might be able to help you with writing if you're interested.
Initial response: Scrolling intro is painfully slow. Either split it up onto pages and allow me to skip at my leisure or just throw it up there and allow me to read at my own pace. Could use a bit more editing too. After that, the game feels very basic. Like a first try that'll eventually be spun into something larger.
If you dig a deep enough hole at the core (using an edge of the map makes it easier to make it straight down) you can use gravity to slingshot yourself out the other side, giving you a depth of 0 meters. Game glitches slightly if you manage to strand yourself under the lava, but jumping once got me back into gravity's clutches and back to the molten surface.
Battery upgrade says that dynamite will restore 50% of my energy. Instead it restores 50 units of energy. Not sure which is the glitch, but the game would probably be too easy if it was actually 50%.
Tutorial is way too slow for me to want to stick around and read it. When I try the actual mission, I kill the first wave. On wave two, I'm trying to shoot the zombie next to me but keep hitting the spawner that's overlapping me until I run out of ammo with both guns, then have no visible means of rearming. Perhaps the weapon tutorial teaches me how, but after the first one took two minutes to say "Arrow keys," I don't WANT to watch the next tutorial.
