Stupid hard.
Enemies hit you for a full health bar very early on. You simply do not gain experience quickly enough to be fair. This game is not fun. 2/5
Two complaints.
One, is the randomness of determining color. I really hate random, though it's admittedly fairly well done here.
Two is the backfarming/grinding for experience that goes on.
I will say that the skill scheme is quite interesting (high cost at first, then low cost, then high again)
A few glaring flaws that force the rating down.
1, not being able to restart manually after the last shot is fired. You have to wait a good 7 seconds instead, even when you *know* you won't win.
2, the game doesn't count a stage as being completed until you choose to continue. I.E. if you choose to replay it, you have not beaten it in the game's eyes and must beat it again to continue.
I had a third but I forgot it.
I get that this game has well-thought out puzzles, is original, and is great quality.
...but it's just so...BORING. I struggle to play it for more than a few minutes due the severe lack of any fun.
3/5
why did this game need to get badges
*The fire button should be a toggle.* Seriously. Please, please, make it a toggle, if not just always automatically firing. There's no reason to ever stop shooting, and I don't much fancy a game where I have to hold the left mouse button for the entirety of the game.
Gameplay itself is far too slow-paced. Make the projectiles travel 2x as fast, make the rates of fire 2x as fast, make ship speed 2x as fast, send out waves 2x as fast, etc. Double the speed of the game and it would be much better off.
Upgrades are straightforward and shallow.
These things combined make a 4/5 game a 3/5 game in my eyes.
This is a crock of shit. It would be really nice if the game would TELL ME WHAT TO DO. How do I change the Tank to tower form? How do I summon heroes? How do I get more than one unit of one type a turn? The tutorial mentions none of these things.
Good game, but it has glaring flaws. Mostly the boss battles. The bosses have too much life, yet their attacks are too easy. Bosses spawning other enemies, by the way, is cheap. It would be passable if it didn't spawn enemies RIGHT ON TOP OF MY HEAD. And that all the bosses I've faced so far have done it. You basically dodge a very simple attack or two, attack the head, repeat. Ugh.
The dungeons themselves are poor quality. There's never any puzzle, it's just three branching paths with a bunch of enemies in between that you have to do in a specific order. It gets tiresome.
Also, I've always hated level up systems wherein it takes more to level up a certain skill multiple times. That harshly penalizes anyone who wants to build a character specializing in anything.
All in all, though, despite its flaws, it's worthy of a 5/5.
