Level 18 (the first "protect the boss's car) mission took me three tries AFTER I had bought the FPW I9I8 (best gun), Blast Grenades (best grenades), and Eliase (best merc)...that's 450 gold right there. Too difficult.
Tried again after the update. I'm not sure why, but my towers will only target an enemy once, i.e. if an enemy passes by a tower and later re-enters its range, the tower won't shoot at it...
The Venom Thorn/Killstreak nerf shows the dev has no idea what's wrong with this game. It's the additive (not multiplicative) damage bonuses, which turn weak skills that hit a lot of enemies into over-powered killers. No more Venom Thorns? That's fine, Desperado + Killstreak + Toxic with a +10 Marble Rifle (or any gun that penetrates) will fire 20 penetrating shots that do 10-15K damage in about 2 seconds. Same setup with Rapid Shooting will do 300K+ to a single target in less time.
4.5/5. Solid game. Few issues:
1) as others mentioned, resurrect does NOT work properly. Looks like it heals you to 20% WHEN YOU DROP BELOW 20%, not when you die. I know i'm not getting hit for 200+, either; I'm at 22%, an enemy hits me for 32, I go down to 16% then immediately "resurrect" to 20%...
2) Shotgun seems to be pretty useless.
3) Scoring is weird, and I've never gotten close to a million despite fighting the warden.
4) Just as an aside, you can easily face the fairly warden by entering the tutorial and destroying levels quickly, as you can get ~35 levels before the first enemy spawns.

It's already been mentioned, but Poison Thorns + Toxin + Killsteak gives you a long-range AoE attack that does 1950% (~20x) weapon damage PER ENEMY, and gives you an ADDITIONAL 25% bonus damage per target killed AND 25% life leech. This means you'll kill 10+ enemies and completely heal yourself with each attack. Imbalanced as it gets; you can solo a 5-star city.
Alright game, but fairly short and not a huge amount of replay value. I found the bazooka underpowered compared to the other guns, especially the machine gun.
Tips: upgrade decreased costs first, then increased leveling. Those are the key skills. The pistol is actually a decent weapon as it has unlimited ammo and can clear a double hood grapple w/ 2 soldiers in a single clip when maxed. Cocheta's guns are better all-around than Diane's (his shotgun > hers, his automatic > hers, and his last weapon >> hers), handling is very important as it increases RoF dramatically. Finally, keep a full clip in your accurate automatic at all times for proxy mines.
Yea the missions where you have to transport the capsule (13+14?) are just horrific. Going "as fast as possible" doesn't work at all due to this game's wacky physics...one bump and the capsule is on the ground and you automatically lose.
