WAYYY too easy: once you unlock the Doctor Tower, reset skills and immediately upgrade it to the max, then get 2 from the start (at positions 2 and 3) on every level. The idea is the doctor towers can heal each other, and, with the Team Control upgrade, will give units in positions 1 and 4 double healing. This allows your group to survive quite heavy fire without the use of repair.
Dear dev: Death Reach is by FAR the best spell in the game now. You have GOT to nerf Decaying Grip. It CANNOT affect bosses. You can kill the Scourge Templar's second form while only getting hit ONCE...
Revised over previous post: I've decided that the best setup is fireball, plague bane, ice shards, hellfire, and gargoyle (with life leech). Frigid blast's damage is just too low to use. Gargoyle's damage is decent, but the key that while gargoyle is up he'll heal you for about 9% of your max life per second. Very useful, you can beat the final boss w/o using blood power once.
Interesting setup. I've found that Frigid Blast is one of the most useful skills! However, that's the draw we wanted to bring in when designing the game was players coming up with various skill sets to play with. I like using Fireball, Plague Bane, Frigid Blast, Hailstorm and then my 5th skill is usually a flex skill between Ice Shard and Hellfire.
Here's the winning setup: max fireball, combustible, lively, hellfire, glaciate, fortification, ice shard, ice arrows, plague bane, regeneration, contagion, and demon arrows. Put ONE point in: frigid blast (use for freezing, not damage), thaw, chillout, and icebreaker. This leaves you enough points to take spell boon + mage mastery in all trees, and 3 demon points for focused, quick shots, and whatever else you want. Gives +30% damage and -30% cooldown. Key is freezing, as it stops enemies and you get +30% spell crit on a frozen enemy (95% with a fire spell). Your main attack has a 5% chance to freeze and steal life. Only other remotely useful spells are hailstorm and gargoyle. + if this helps.
The "last" gas is ozone, which can be found in certain OPEN areas in aerial areas. The screen will turn yellow randomly, and you just have to hang out to collect it.
My main complaint is that chitin, pearls, viscera, and coral shards are all very rare, and are required for a lot of things. Also, it seems to be impossible to collect viscera in aerial environments.
Beat entire game in about an hour. This setup got me 3 stars on every level easily: 7-9-8-5-7-4-8-9, with something like 9-7-5-8-7-4-8-2 on 2nd floor. Key towers seem to be 4 (slow), 5 (piercing attack), 7 (group poison), and 8 (paralyze an enemy). 1, 3, and 6 seem to be pretty useless.
Alright, got this game figured out. You only need to focus on 3 trees of upgrades: poison, stone ball, and stone javelin. Acid spray is a good group slower, while toxic spurt can quickly wear single enemies down. Earth shaker (stone ball) can hit/slow many enemies, while multitarget (stone javelin) hits fewer but does a good amount of DPS. Finally, stone snipers have ridiculous range/damage, and can thus be placed almost anywhere; smashers actually have good range/great DPS, and several can stunlock bosses. + if it helped. I beat waves 10-16 on my first try so far without building any other types of towers.
After 8-9 tries I gave up on trying to get perfect on level 9, and moved on to level 10. I can't even beat that. This game is simply too unbalanced and difficult. By level 7 you're basically just building arrow hut towers because the other types just don't work well.
Good game. Bug: in the area where you fight the mech, the door locks to trap you in. The first time I played the level, the door closed and locked BEFORE I could get through it, permanently separating me from the boss and forcing a reset.
Also, if you throw a grenade the moment a car enters the screen from the rear, you'll almost always hit it. A blast grenade will destroy any car and almost kill a truck.
TIP: the exchange rate for gold for cash is WAY too good. Find an early mission in which you can get perfect and just replay it to get 9-10 gold worth of cash. NOT counting achievements, you can get enough gold for the FPW I9I8 + Eliase in about 15 minutes. The FPW I9I8 can take out 2-3 cars on a full clip, and Eliase can take out a car in 2-3 seconds without help.
Good catch, my friend. I'll definitely change it so it cannot affect bosses. - Game has been patched! Thanks for the report!
