Beat the game. To start, just put points in air and ground towers. They're much more cost-effecient than other trees. Once they're maxed, max Water magic, Earth magic, the Wizard, and Air magic in that order. You want your last 2 towers to be Reflectors, almost everything else Stone Charmers. Max Make sure to repeat levels for stars.
Tip: play a level all 3 times immediately, as the difficulty ramps up in later levels. Big issue is that the game is unbalanced: there are two VERY good specializations (right side air, which owns bosses, and right side earth, which kills everything else) and you can pretty much beat the game by just building those two towers.
FOV issues: 1) hard to aim as the FOV often adjusts when you try to aim. 2) Enemies appear out of nowhere and often will shoot you from offscreen. 3) Bottomless pits. Game would be a 4/5 with a better FOV/tracking camera, but now it's a 2/5 and hard to play...
As everyone else has said, 3 bombards on every floor will get you 3 stars on every level. Gunners seem practically useless. Also, the 3rd boss (Hyper Genezuz, the rocket launcher guy) is WAY tougher than the bosses after him. There is no way to stop him from killing 1-2 of your guards every 15 seconds or so.
How to win: get an early turret and upgrade it + income. Only build units when you have to. Since you'll get more XP than opponent, you'll quickly get a 2 age advantage. Once you hit modern, immediately start mass-producing units instead of just building a few and you'll wipe the enemy off the board.
Froze on day 5. Nowhere NEAR as good as the first one. You need to make the "stock cost" more obvious, as it took me a few days to realize why I was losing money...
The new changes make the game too easy. I played 2 games on Deity and won both before turn 85. I'm glad the turn 5 ice ages and the turn 20 cannibals that kill 20+ people are gone, but still...
BIG flaw: with the "heavy" set of gear, some jumps become IMPOSSIBLE. There is a jump over spikes in the 5th level that cannot be cleared with the 90% speed heavy gear gives you. I had to use a rush potion and still almost missed...
New high score: 10283 on deity difficulty: 1908 pop, 1030 food/turn, 3655 production/turn, 7554 culture/turn, 1.86% danger. As I said in my other post, the key is ignoring certain skills entirely and focusing very heavily on fishing and culture.
game-breaking bug: if you lose land in a certain area twice, it'll sometimes go to ZERO. I lost land by the river for a 2nd time and my cap went from 110 to 0...
7.7K in hardest mode. Tip on skill progression: go Knowledge of Plants first, then crude stone tools. You'll cap out on pop but will be able to quickly get the Dwelling building, which is very important. Then go (in order) use of fire, hunting, primitive weapons, improved stone tools. Do NOT get fur clothing. Next get building of fire, fishing OR advanced gathering (get whichever you didn't get first next), shelter, religion, art, thrown weapons, and advanced stone tools. No hunting, it's not worth it. You want most guys on food with some on culture until the late game, when your pop should be over 1K and you should get an upgrade every few turns. Works on every mode.
Already played on AG, but just wanna say that the thumbnail for the game makes it look like one of those thegames8 pieces of trash...almost didn't click on it. The game is fairly good but way too easy.
Great results! You are truly the Champion! Very impressive!
