What's the point of letting the humans recapture cities? Is it to keep me from just wasting time and letting money build up? Because all it means is I actually have to be here and make sure to retake any city they took back. It's not hard, especially when they take back a Canadian city and I've got 40 Berserkers.
Awesome game! Only problem I see is that it ends too soon. Needs more levels, or maybe a level editor if you can make one. I'd definitely love to see a sequel!
The puzzles are pretty cool, but the point and click segments are pretty bad. There's not really any way to tell whether something is a puzzle piece or not besides going on a pixel hunt, and that's never fun. Ever.
2 Major hints: First, you have nigh-infinite range. Just scroll the screen and adjust for gravity and you can kill enemies long before they have a chance of seeing you. If you're worried about VIPs or citizens, use the spy to clear them out before blowing everything up. Second, out of sight, out of mind. You can never kill a citizen or damage a structure if you didn't witness the bullet or explosive connect. Using these 2 facts, the entire game becomes a lot easier.
Is there a way to turn off the loud sound effects without turning off the music? I found a button that mutes the music and one that mutes everything, but none that just mute the SE.
Where have you ever seen so many constructive reviews in one place? Either everyone is satisfied, or they'll tell you exactly why! That certainly isn't the Internet I know. Case in point: here I am nitpicking a game I'm having a lot of fun with. : D
Buying weapons in this game is a little like going up stairs. Most people would probably say you should hit every one on the way up to the top, but I find it easier to skip over a lot of them. Believe me, once you get the minigun, you'll wish you had it earlier. Skip to it as soon as you can.
Why are all of the good weapons withheld from me? Why does unlocking them require me to grind for points in Quick Matches? Why does playing on more interesting modes reduce the amount of points I gain? I mean, I'm not the only one getting the benefits from those modes, am I? Why is the first Alien level so hard? There's some real potential here, but man, that's quite a few flaws to put up with. Maybe if I could grind in an online play of sorts, I could deal with that, but I have to grind against bots? No. The Hard badge isn't worth it.
Can I get a "see hitbox" option please? It seems to be neither the shape of my ship (which changes when you die, anyway) nor the little white dot in the center. So where is it? In bullet hell, you do not want to ask that question.
How to beat the boss: 1) Immediately head to the left lanes and charge your nitro. 2) Once it's charged up about three-quarters full, head back to the right. 3) Boost up to the right weakpoint and jump on. 4) Head back to the left. You can boost for free as long as you stay in the left, so blast forward to the other weakpoint. 5) A central weakpoint will open up. If you're too far up, move off the road for a second to move down. Then just nitro forward and take the last weakpoint. Always make sure to avoid the lasers, as they will vaporize you in one touch. + if you find this helpful.
As far as Roguelikes go, this one's pretty boring. There's pretty much no depth. You just wander around and hope nothing kills you before you can get enough strength. Also, this isn't like Gauntlet. Gauntlet was action oriented; things moved whether or not you were ready. This is a Roguelike, which means it's all strategy. Nothing moves unless you do. Please don't mislead me.
This is a really great game. It's fast-paced, action-heavy fun set to great music. It's only about ten minutes to beat the whole game, but I think that actually serves as a feature in this case. It's nice and short so you can pick it up and play whenever without having to set aside an afternoon. I honestly don't know what a sequel could do to improve the experience. 5/5.
