I thought there was something up with the "Weak/strong" system. Apparently, if a monster is "weak to magic" they have a low magic stat, and if they're "strong against defense" (that's a weird thing to say) they have high defense. That means you don't need to raise your magic too high, but you do need lots of defense! That could use some rewording. Maybe "Low magic, high defense."
Could use some breaks every so often. After about a minute of crazy, fast-paced action like these, it would be nice to have a moment for a breather every so often.
It can be really hard, especially in Hard mode, to tell which bullets are mine and which are the boss's. All too often, the boss fires those little pellet things and they get mixed up in my bullets and kill me, camouflaged by similar size and being exactly the same color. I actually died twice on them without realizing they weren't mine. I think I said it once; colors could avoid this. I know you're going for a kind of stylization - at least, I hope that's your excuse - but would it be so bad if you colored my bullets blue and his bullets red? This game is hard enough without the game tricking my eyes.
Seems like we have two really good game concepts that don't work too well together. The music part of it is fun if isolated, and it's really cool to make little sound loops in sandbox mode, but in the puzzle mode, the music part tends to sound chaotic and feels really unnatural. It doesn't help that the pipe always plays the same tone when a ball reaches it. Maybe quiet that part down? Either way, good sound loops rarely make for good solutions to puzzles.
Pretty good game, though not entirely a new concept. It would be nice if there was colors though, not just for aesthetics, but because I can't tell when a powerup is around until it's too late. If powerups were green or something, it would stand out better against the black and white. Only other real complaint is the negative space thing. I took a hit because I didn't realize my controls were reversed, so it would be nice if space were reversed, THEN bullets started coming, to give me a little heads up. Other than that, very solid bullet hell game. 4/5.
I'm not so sure it's hackers that got those scores. I just got 4.5 million with no cheats, and the highest score is 51 million. Is that so much as to be incredible? When you consider how many people have played this game, not really.
So you made a puzzle game based off of a mechanic that was present in pretty much every old arcade platformer? Interesting choice. I just wish the spikes were more visible and the controls were more fluid.
Where do I start with this game? Firstly, it's mostly trial and error. You come to 3 doors, some of which may have some distinguishing qualities like a blood stain or smiley face, but all of which are random. Two of them kill you in some special way. One brings you down a corridor leading to 3 more doors. Occasionally you need to kill a few monsters or pull a switch or something, but that's the gyst of it. If you do have to kill monsters, it's incredibly easy. Just press S a few times and everything in the room will die pretty fast. The only other things to mention are the annoying music and voices, which you can't turn off, and the frog part. Way too difficult. Those fish have really disjointed hitboxes. And the room drags on forever. Overall, I give it a 2.
Good game, but I wish I didn't have to deselect all of my units before every mission. Why would I bring anything but the Spy if I can just deploy everything later? All I can take is 5 units, so I'd rather know what I'm up against and bring more to combat them properly. Also, the game warns me that I'm not bringing as many as I could before every mission. Again, why would I want to? There's no problem here, so don't warn me.
Do I really have to save VIPs, collect stars, save civilians, AND prevent the death of all my soldiers? I really hate collecting everything and then failing a mission because a building collapsed on a soldier. I don't even care if I lose that soldier forever. Having to restart a mission sucks.
This game needs an encyclopedia. So much information came by and went before the first mission, and now I don't remember anything. Too bad there's no way to review!
