I really hate how the water mutes the music. Yeah, I guess it does make me feel more like I just fell into water, but that's not really a fun feeling, is it? I wouldn't bother complaining if there was only that little bit of water in the first chapter, but chapter 2 is about one third water and chapter 3 is probably more than half water. :/
Those of you just showing up here for the first time: don't even worry about the Hard Badge yet. Just enjoy the game as is. If you had lots of fun, THEN go for the badges.
Helicopter games aren't very original, but this one has an interesting environment, pretty things to look at, and nice music. It's about as good as Helicopter can get. 4/5.
Wow, there's no auto-save? I can't think of the last time I had to manually save in this kind of a game. That is a pretty big problem for forgetful types like myself.
Protip: Get spikes and keep them. If there's a ball close to the middle, you can break it with the spikes. Close to the edge, just let it fall. That and have a little patience. Winning takes 2 minutes, so if you haven't won yet, every attempt is less than that.
Protip: Whenever you can, shift to "new territory." (the colored circles) Whenever you do that, all the enemies onscreen disappear. Use the moment of safety to look for halos.
Interesting concept, but lackluster execution. The weapons are way too short range, the guns are cool, but you can't shoot while jumping, and at some point, there's just way too many of them to deal with. Could be really interesting with some polish, but for now, it's 2/5 for me, and since it's been 4 years with no updates, I doubt that'll ever really change.
This game is like a puzzle box. It's very simple, and when you know the trick, you can solve it in a few seconds, but if you don't know the trick, it can take hours.
Not mentioned in the manual: The further away the box, the less of an impact it has on you when you mouse over it. If you want to move slowly, touch a box that's far away. If you want to move fast, touch one that's close. There's no timer, so take your time. Moving slowly is a lot safer.
Anyone who showed up here for Badge of the day, I can't recommend this game enough. If you think turn-based combat is always "hit 'em til they die, heal when necessary," you MUST play this game. This game is FAR deeper than that. Even in chapter one, there are hints of strategy to make the better go a little smoother, even though it's basically turn-based combat 101. Starting with chapter 2, the gloves come off. You MUST use strategy or you WILL get killed. That and, as everyone is quick to point out, it has a deep story, great humor, and really good music.
This game is cool for 2 reasons. First is that it is technically fair, even though it might not always feel like it. That's practically the mark of a good dice game; that the loser feels cheated, but in reality, they were not. Second, if you stop and look at the rules, it's actually a pretty complicated game. Ones and fives score, 3 of any number scores that number times one hundred, double for more numbers in a row......I can't imagine trying to explain this game to someone in real life. So why is that cool? Because it hides all of that complexity from you. All you have to do is look at the little cards the computer hands you. It gives you all these little shortcuts to streamline the game a lot without actually simplifying any of the mechanics. Both of these things together make a superb game of chance, not to even mention the different computer levels and the awards to unlock. 5/5. Truly an outstanding dice game.
I'm not even sure where to begin with constructive criticism. Let's see. First off, there doesn't seem to be much of a goal, apart from explore I guess, but when you go too far in any direction, you get warped back to start because your little guys got separated and it's near impossible to keep them together. The controls are a pretty awkward, there's no in-game explanation on how to jump or move, and the hitboxes appear to not match the graphics at all. In fact, the hitboxes are themselves visible and clearly moving differently than the characters you control, and the characters don't really move exactly the same, which is a shame, because if I could cram them all into the same spot and move them together, they would stop getting separated. Lastly, it seems that what you're going for is a platformer where you control several characters at once, which, sadly, is basically Enough Plumbers, so it's unoriginal too. Whew. I think that's everything. :)
If sliders could move other sliders, it would basically be Upbot goes Up. What I mean is, it would change things to the point of being a completely different game.
If you set a value to spin at 1080, it stops moving completely. Thus, speed can be defined as the inverse of the distance from 540, or more simply, nothing moves faster than 540. + to keep this knowledge alive.
