When you fill in all the slots, your final score flashes on screen for like a second-and-a-half, then takes you back to the start screen. It would be nice if we could see all the rows and columns being totaled up individually.
In a game that centers entirely around upgrades, the player should never be able to max out all upgrades before the end of the game (at least not without grossly excessive grinding). Otherwise, upgrades cease to feel like achievements, and feel like artificial padding - which they are, of course, but the point is that you need to distract the player from that fact.
"Thank you, mysterious white man from another world, for solving our oxygen crisis by lobbing fire at things until they died. Our humble and barbaric culture has seen the light in the few minutes you've been gone and decided there's no reason to ever go to war ever again."
The quirky designs, the music, the dialogue, and the parallax effect all contribute to an excellent presentation... but it's all just to hide this game's true nature: a series of fetch quests and stripped-down puzzles. In the end, this game is no more than the sum of its parts. I give it a 3/5.
