Final comments:
Oh joy. Another luck-based launch game. Even with the highest upgrades possible I can only get half way to the "top" without collecting AHOYs.
Penalization from the temple-specific upgrades and the huge increase in costs between temples (first temple first armor: 500 coins, third temple first armor: 4000 coins) even *after* the reduction is too much. Even selling upgrades at an 80% return hurts (if I were to buy and later sell my third temple's first armor, I'd be out 800 coins and that's 8 already-beaten levels worth of coins to recover!)
You'd be better off making replays not award additional coins (that is, there's a "best possible" amount, replaying a level can only give you coins if you do better than your previous best).
Then add in the "luck" upgrade for the large pieces and the Insane levels become impossible to ever complete if you're unlucky. Without a constant stream of doubled shards, you can't complete the levels fast enough.
Try upgrading your health and speed in the evolution shop (Q) early. Each of the base upgrades at the bottom to the evolution shop cost very little early on.
(I know this game needs a tutorial)
This appears to be a Kongregate online bug. We will investigate. You can download it from our web site and you won't experience that: http://frogdice.com/tower-of-elements-demo/
Level 10 is *way* too sensitive in timing. I never made it past the second fan and only got past the first maybe four times in 15 minutes. This is with both mouse and keyboard.
The second puzzle was unclear and I had to resort to a walkthrough to figure it out. The second locked door also presented a problem (i.e. there's an alternate solution that is technically valid given the text clue).
I can't figure out how to do research. It says to send the family into town to attend school, but town only has a Market and Labor. There is no school...
I gave up in the snow region. Not being able to see anything combined with enemies I can't see or figure out how to kill combined with the rather frustrating back-to-zone-entrance-on-death mechanic, I just didn't have the patience to continue.
I love how meaningless some of the achievement bonuses are. Dying gives you +1% more health. I have 90+5 and enemies do....THIRTY damage. So instead of being a 3-hit-wonder I'm a 4-hit-wonder!
Still having issues with planes being TOO big. Had the game spawn two blimps (in the WW2 era) that had no gap between them and only a tiny gap on the far left of the screen, and by the time I saw it, there was no hope. Lost a full flock, three birds survived due to invulnerability.
Mustard gas canisters are also REALLY hard to see. There was a point where I was dodging one cloud and another blossomed up under me while a plane zipped through the one safe corner of the screen, killing half the flock.
The first game was WAY easier than this.
