Another way to deal with multiple foes is with the Assassin tree. The life drain per shot is strong, comboed with improved crit rate, more crit rate when you kill a foe, and then with the warrior's on-crit boosting goodness, +50% armor talent, and more Strength as well as their top level auto-attack boosting talent.
Archery is by far the easiest for leveling. Your first point should go into the SnapShot or whatever. You STILL AUTOFIRE when using skills, so spamming the Shoot skill will effectively double your damage output! Multiple foes are your weakness though. Get the Dazzle (mage) skill and definitely the 40% slow archery one. The 15% speed boost is very handy too. You can pretty much outrun anything. In the mage tree, the dazzle is nice, then take a few more points and pick up the Teleport for more of a shoot and scoot playstyle.---- You can also effectively AoE by using Exploding Arrow, the mage Nova skill, and your top black hole skill, while using teleport. This requires a good deal of energy, but can help you survive the few areas where you have to fight at least 4 or 5 foes at once.
Joe's Guide: Riddle1-How many months? 12...its a trick. Riddle2-how many from jar? 33. I thought 2 at first, cuz it didnt say they had to be different. Riddle 3- wierd 'math' ish one. = 15.------------Unlocking the treetrunk screen: Imagine the tree trunks as a wall clock. Avoid them all except the following: 1) Touch the 5 o clock positioned one. (to the right of the very bottom one). 2) Then touch the 12-o clock (the top most one)...scrape the top of the screen to do this. 3) Now, touch the 9 o clock one (the very left hand most one).
Hardcore is made slightly more bearable by rampant cheating: Save your game after doing mandatory stuff (selling, eggs, etc), then refresh the stock, go searching, whatever. If it doesnt work out... Refresh your browser and spend the APs in a more conservative manner.
The random number generator sucks bad on weapons. Here I am at level 51 hardcore and my weapons are: Mk 3 bowgun(!), gravity gun Mk3, gravity gun Mk 1, and a Mk 2 auto-shotgun. Piss poor man. But reforging is ridiculously expensive in terms of cash, APs, AND your mods. I dont have a single level 3 mod either. Holy crap, the game really really really needs a way to buy/upgrade weapons easier.
Fun game. First, the missile fabricator is only found on the main bad guy! So you wont get much use out of it.---------You need to click Inventory and Cargo area to read the coordinates on the Enemy Beacon. Its not on the map.-----------Strategy for beating big ship: Warp in, blast away, fire missiles, etc. Then Jump away. Let shields and everything recharge and repeat. It is a good idea to kill the 6 smaller ships around it which might drop a Armor-repair. DONT GET THEM immediately... wait until you are beaten up from fighting the Big Guy, then repair.
The game seems really hard at first, but it really isn't. The most important thing is that it is an iterative thing. You need to be on Casual mode WITH MODS, and then use that to get some of the Accomplishments. Accomplishments make life a LOT easier. For example, a new game for me gives me an extra 3000ish gold(!), several bonus skills, and 30% more egg income, robber income, and +2 to 3 bonus APs. Crazy good.---------------------The next hint is to get weapons that work with your skills. A bowgun is good. A bowgun that pierces +5 with bowmaster is really good. One with improved crit is extremely good. A shotgun is good. A shotgun that gives +5 extra projectiles per shot is crazy good!
My hints: Get a second repair guy first, and then get up to 8 light shooters. They are your guys that you move from place to place with the #1 key. You can only fit 10 dudes in 1 space, otherwise youd get a full 18 light guns.--------------- Next, get 1 machine gun, since that really covers your whole base vs fliers. Then, you need 1 Heavy Gunner, and Id put 1 at each location. However, you MUST have 1 by day 8 or so because otherwise the Carriers are impossible to hit. Since Heavies have minimum range, they will not shoot the spawning crap, and instead will hit the actual Carrier. This is a good thing. -------- So, 8 mobile lights, 2 repair, 2 machine gun, 2 turret (catty corner), and 4 heavy rockets, 1 at each location.---------------- If you need to repair, keep ONE baddie alive at the end of the round. Then let your repairmen do their thing. A level 2 can outrepair 1 bug. The rest is profit and they level up that way.
The game is all about getting a good start. If you dont, you will eventually be overwhelmed by the increasing power of the baddies. Getting medals on easy-mode is the best step towards this. An eearly investment into Eggs is the key. The Active skill, Breeder, and Goggles or whatever gives you better Searches are all key.
The AutoShotgun is the best weapon in the game I think. It does damage about equal to a machine gun, except every single 'shot' fires TEN shots in a spread. With the Doc Holliday skill maxed at 5, thats FIFTEEN shots in 1 click! Another key skill is Cripple which slows down monsters you hit... and you hit a LOT of monsters.--------------Best Mod for an auto-shotgun = Damage. A level 3 damage mod adds 15 damage to EVERY BULLET! That means +225 damage per shot (15x15), and is equal to +7.5 Mod adjustments. Leech is also very good and Anti-Armor is key as well. Ammo or quick reload are both solid as well. Ive noticed NPCs do really really well with the auto-shotgun too. If you can, buy one with 4 or more mod slots even if lower level and upgrade it. The mod slots do a LOT for the auto-shotgun. Remember, a Mark 4 auto shotgun with 4 level 3 damage mods is equal to a Mark 34 autoshotgun! (minus slight fire rate boost)
Not much Strategy needed, but you are best off starting with high Chrome to get more money fast. At round 2 and beyond, boost AGILITY. It gives you half the benefit of Precision, half the benefit of Defense, AND +1% crit chance on top of all that. Clearly the best pick.
Get Chrome accessories early on for the cash boost. Then, you can buy whatever.
Now, I 1-shot anything I hit with auto-crit for 5k damage. Round 55 and no end in sight.
Reforging a gun does several things: Costs 4 APs, costs a lot of cash, upgrades your gun from Mark X to Mark X+1. This means slightly more damage and firing rate. The last mod you put on the gun is DELETED. Finally, the skill needed to use the gun increases.-----------------SO... always put the most important upgrade on FIRST. In fact, if you have an extra slot, put on the crappiest upgrade (or any ole level 1 one) first, then Reforge. This way you dont lose that precious Leech mod.
Worthwhile Medals: Click the Kongregate link for a 3% wage discount. Easy.------------Play on super-easy mode and PRAY every round. You unlock a new class with the level 10 medal AND get a +1 AP that happens 50% of the time. Similar to Active 1 skill.------------------------- If you can get Taunt early in a new game on super-easy, taunt like crazy to get this medal. You can taunt MULTIPLE TIMES! Reward stacks, but difficulty does not seem to! This gets the Medal a lot faster. Medal is another +1 AP one...well worthwhile. --------------- You also want the Party-Thrower one. You need a 2500 villa to do so, so this is a bit late game. GIves another +1 AP chance though.
Ragnarok Strategy - The old 'use at the end of round when it times-out" strategy doesnt work anymore. :-) ------------- Collect 1 ragnarok in slot 5. Collect 1 Holy Grail in slot 4. Get TWO SLOTS worth of high level Grenades in slots 2,3. At level 15ish you can attempt to beat Ragnarok. Save game, then start the day. IMMEDIATELY pop Ragnarok and spam BOTH GRENADE SLOTS which have INDEPENDENT COOLDOWNS! Shoot like crazy. 5 seconds later before they shoot, pop the GRAIL. Keep spamming grenades and shooting and hope for the best. The rest of the round should be easy after that! You either win without a scratch or you get totally pwned. REWARDS: You level up like a psycho! You personally get about 10 level-ups (assuming you do it at level 12-15ish).
NPC weapons: Big Guns is well worth having one of your NPCs have. You will eventually get Gravity Guns which NPCs make excellent usage out of. It shoots down the line with a huge area effect. It works great with NPC's slow shooting, since the GravGun is very slow firing anyways. ----------- Rifle Users can make great use out of the BowGun...especially if they can get Bow Mastery. I find these to be the best NPC weapon categories. I'd avoid Small Guns if possible, though you really want 4 allies, each with different gun-skills so you can use any cool thing you find.
Important NPC skills: ACTIVE - This is the bomb. Reliably gives about 1/2 its level worth of bonus APs. QUICK EYED - Search normally is a 50/50 help/hurt. This skill makes Searching into AwesomeSauce. You can find Chickens, boost your wall, get skills, and cash...which is a great deal for its low AP cost.
The key to this game is Weapon and Skills synergy. For example, a Sheriff needs a combat shotgun or an auto shotgun. The Dr Holliday skill adds up to +5 bullets PER SHOT! That means instead of 4 shots, you get NINE. This is a huge damage boost. Also, the sheriff impact bonus is very strong. With faster shooting and reload and ANTI-ARMOR he is very strong. The BowGun is an excellent weapon too. You MUST have Bow Master for more penetration. One-Shot skill that adds 150% damage every so once in a while is huge. Maxed out, this adds 150% damage to every attack! For the sniper rifle, the 1000% damage to the last shot is crazy good, especially combined with improved crits, and a few other synergistic skills. There is a kongregate game guide that is well worth looking up.
Bah. Looks like the bastards fixed the "Ragnarok at the end of turn" cheeze. Even with the CUp of invincible at the end of the day with all other foes dead, it still dragged out another 40 seconds or so, long enough to kill me.
It is a good idea to use TWO guns. Use a primary gun, like an assault rifle. Then, carry another high ammo gun like machine gun, sniper rifle, etc. When #1 runs out of ammo and you really need to keep shooting, switch to #2. Then switch back and reload when you can.
