darkmathijs: the problem you encoutered is due to a bug on the quickening powder item. The item will display speed buffs on certain moves. The numbers it displays do not correspond to the actual speed of the moves that turn. You won't know whether or not your moves are faster until you use them.
I forgot to say that, in general, I like the game a lot. The latest update adds some things that I'm sure everyone was looking for including (most importantly) a reliable save feature, which so far has worked great for me. Keep the updates coming and I'll keep on playing.
I hate to gripe but, setting guys on fire is terrible, I blow up an enemy flamer right at the top of the screen and he, while on fire, runs all the way across the screen and sets an entire trench of guys on fire. Ways to fix this include, shortening the length of time guys burn, decreasing the movement speed of guys on fire (as it is they seem to be faster than everyone else) or, having allied troops continue to shoot at guys on fire because they are clearly more dangerous than the average german.
When they nerfed pilepunker they should have just reduced its damage by 5 instead of making it have a weird 20 damage add-on. This would have removed most of the one-hit kills as they had intended and wouldn't make onimaru's innate ability (and his matchup vs. cornelius) even worse.
Reminds me of castle wars, except without any of its redeeming qualities. The game is obviously based on luck, the only reason players can reliably win is that the AI is dumber than a box of rocks. The challenges don't actually require any more skill than the regular game, just more luck. I appreciate that the creator changed some of the cards to "balance" the game a little bit but, without a deck builder of any variety and while there are still cards that are clearly better than others (blast em, tommy gun, raid) this game is going to be last on my list of card games on this site.
I don't know how many times people have to say this but, if you have a game in which players gain ranks you sure as shit better have a reliable save feature.
advancing still needs some work. I advanced a medic and he just appeared at the bottom of the screen which not only caused him to die but then let the 5 germans who appeared as he was trying to walk across the screen again reach my back line. Also, I got another 4 crosses because a wave appeared right as my last guy was advancing off the screen.
Sterlingveil: I see why you would want to implement a system like that, because it would add a bit more strategy to the game. However, it would also unfairly benefit the players with more cards. People who just started out wouldn't have the ability to respond to their opponent's characters because they only have a few. On the other hand, people who have all the cards would always be able to counter their opponents' characters. I know that many people think that the time they put into the game should be rewarded but, I'm more interested in keeping players of all skill levels playing the game.
It seems they've just added a card album to everyone's profile page. I like it, its a better looking way to display the cards you have and even has a little backstory on the different factions.
This is an excellent framework for a game but it needs a lot of work. First, there should be a return to menu option when you pause, a game like this absolutely must have a quit option. Second, it should be able to be played without sound, some simple visual indicators would accomplish this easily (something like "incoming airstrike" displaying instead of the sound of planes). Third, the AI of the soldiers needs to be adjusted slightly. I understand that getting experience for soldiers is a big part of the game but, even the greenest of soldiers isn't going to just stand there while the germans mosey past him when he has a shotgun in his hand. I feel these would be easy enough changes to make and would greatly enhance the gameplay experience.
Its a pretty basic game, neither the steering nor the collision detection is great, which can be a little annoying. You have to wait through the instructions every time you play and there is no way to return to the menu while in game. I'm not entirely sure why pausing the game deducts points either. Despite these negative aspects, this game can be fun for a little while and its certainly worth the 30 secs or so it takes to earn the card.
Ok, so I may previously have been quoted as saying that in ranked matches "I can look forward to nothing except for the same deck over and over again" in regards to the propensity of most players to opt for the (cornelius, yohsiro, and x) deck. I recently started playing some more ranked matches and as of yet have encountered no such deck. I was wrong when I said "there isn't a lot of variety in playing ranked," ranked matches are fun are I have encountered a variety of interesting character combinations. I kinda think that matches should be ranked by default and that there should be increased score reporting but thats a comment for another day.
while phylactery can win someone the game when it procs multiple times so can almost any 30% attack. Yoshiro's open palm, Ambrosia's spiked boots, Higashi's open palm. While these are sometimes game winners, more often than not their special ability doesn't end the game. I recently lost to a cain solomon whose phylactery triggered three times. That sucked, but that was one loss compared to the dozens of games won because phylactery did nothing at all.
Jack Attack: I say that I don't like playing against the same deck over and over and your solution is to play ranked matches? Ranked matches where I can look forward to nothing except for the same deck over and over again? I don't think you understand my issue. There are, for example, only two players in ranked as I type this. Not only does this mean there is no one for me to play but also but, it also leads me to believe that there isn't a lot of variety in playing ranked.
genesisoflife: The hate is not because the cards are overpowered. I don't like to see those decks because they are all I see these days and it gets boring to play against them. I would dislike any team that everyone was playing, even if it was terrible. Having everyone play a single deck takes the variety and fun out of the game. There are a lot of interesting character and item combinations, I would like to play against more of them.
Fancypants: When you do, makes sure to put a girdle of iron will on corny, a generals insignia on yoshiro and a scroll of inner focus on rumiko, then you can be just like everyone else.
