Gah, I'm going to lose my mind if it happens one more time that I win some really tough battle, get a bunch of expensive weapons, then have every shop I go to say "Hurr, we not interested!" when you try to sell anything more than 5 freaking bullets, leading to me being forced to throw away thousands upon thousands bucks worth of items. I mean, that's not how the f*ck things like that work, when there's greater supply than demand the price is just supposed to go down. It enrages me.
It's uh...ok, I guess. I wish I could offer some sort of constructive criticism, but I honestly just don't think the idea of the game itself is really all that great, so I'm not sure how much one could work with it. Oh, plus it's always a good idea to make sure you don't want to slap the protagonist. Look at angry birds, nobody wants to slap a fat little birdy. A stupid looking ancient greek dude? Far less endearing. And on that note, our character is awfully large in comparison to everything else; it makes trying to be exact difficult when the protagonist is this huge ball of flailing limbs. Still, overall I just couldn't see ever really enjoying something like this. Maybe it's just me...
Yes, this game IS fairly pretentious; it's had 3 installments that have trite stories and don't even attempt to have much gaming value...although I guess it can't be too pretentious if people keep eating it up. Plus all the problems presented have a simple solution; grow some balls. "Oh no, my asshole husband is cheating on me! I'm going to mope and throw myself at him". Well, if you had some self-respect maybe you wouldn't wind up clinging to obvious douches who treat you like shit? And perhaps mistress girl should try one of the other hundreds of millions of eligible guys in the world rather than seeking ones who only care about what's between her legs? Maybe blue guy should speak up or go find another friend/crush he doesn't have the balls to make a move on? Then again as a young dude I already hear lots of complaints from people with immense self-esteem issues who don't get why people treat them like doormats, so maybe I'm just personally over-sensitive to the theme.
I shall be waiting for the second part with what little patience I can muster...darn it, Tevoran is rubbing off on me, which could explain why suddenly some opium cake sounds awfully good. Oh, and Peragin, as with many levels of that sort where it's pretty big and you can just go hide in a corner, doing so will result in not being able to get the red belt and zloteks making very telltale shining animations on the edge of the garbage heap.
I really want to like it, but it plays extremely rough. It regularly bugs out, it's always doing things I don't want it to do, enemies seem to randomly have bullets pass right through them without affecting them, jumping and wall jumping is rather unpredictable...I wish it was all a bit smoother, as the concept and whatnot is pretty good.
I'm sort of confused. It says to click or press up/down to switch lasers, but I click or press up and down and nothing whatsoever happens. Is this an error of some sort? I imagine it has to be, I doubt there's any way someone would make a game like this and only have one laser work at a time.
It's fairly good, but the player levels vs. episode difficulty seems really off. It feels like there was meant to be another episode, cause I'm only level 24 and I've already finished the game. I haven't even seen 50% of the weapons or upgrades in the game yet and I'm already done. That...doesn't seem right, at all.
What in the name of god would possess you to make freaking rockets home in on bullets? At that point it would be far better to have them just be unguided.
I have two complaints; the first is that there aren't enough shops for how much money we get. I just keep accumulating money, keep not finding shops, and thus continue not having enough ammo. In the last games it felt like there were shops all over the darned place, here it feels like there are barely any. The second, and more frustrating imo, is that the "lorry" doesn't have anywhere near enough power. It's so insanely irritating being forced to restart the level over and over again because the stupid thing gets stuck on every tiny little nook and cranny. Hell, it struggles to so much as get up small hills, a single unexploded barrel can stop the thing dead in its tracks.
Hm, I'm normally not too big a fan of these games, but I rather liked this one. Plus, even when I was was getting chewed on or carried away by a fat, angry little bird it still made me smile.
I agree that there isn't a whole lot here, but another complaint I have is with how health just gradually goes up and down; things happen way too fast to have my health be lagging way behind due to it being unable to actually change without ever so slowly making its way to its actual value.
Oh, and of course the biggest issue; I'm not sure if some devs do this as a way to pad a game's length or what, but making people play levels difficulty level by difficulty level will never, ever be a good idea unless perhaps the actual composition of the level changes between. In this case though the enemies simply get straight up harder, so if I can beat hard I can clearly beat medium and easy. There is literally no reason whatsoever to waste our time here other than, as I said, padding the game's length, and that's a very poor reason.
Bro, ya mighta wanted to let us know that certain enemies have a certain percentage of defence against certain tower types. I didn't realize until later levels when I was all "Hey, why the hell aren't my air towers doing any damage to ninjas or rider thingers?" and checked the keeperpedia, at which point I realized they each had 75% resistance to air and I was not going crazy. And I'd also say that it towers should split off into their respective specialty things earlier, as having them have no special effects all the way up to the 3rd tier seems to rob the entire thing of some of its potential strategy.
Another problem I'd say is that 2nd and 3rd really need to be rewarded somehow, even if each place just gets a certain portion of gems. The person coming in 2nd and the person coming in 8th shouldn't be getting the same rewards for the race. This kinda goes back to my prior comment and points to the overarching problem in this game that we're distinctly rewarded for avoiding real competition at all costs. When you're in a room winning and someone shows up who can give you a run for your money, there is no advantage whatsoever to sticking around; all that does is make it so that you're less likely to win and get prize packs, makes you get less skill points, and it's not like beating them provides any bonus to skill points. Getting on the leaderboards mostly involves playing the game as a boring grind sitting around besting unskilled players and skipping out of there as soon as an even somewhat comparable player shows up...that doesn't seem right to me.
Well before anything else I have to commend you on making buying currency an available option, but making it so that the advantages doing so provides isn't so big that it sets anyone else at a disadvantage, I think you did an excellent job balancing all that. On to the complaints though; I hate how skill points work. They don't actually have to do with skill, you get them based on where you place in the race/how many people are in there. So I could be in a full room of jokes who can barely finish the race with me there and I'll get more ranking points than going to another room and managing to beat out 5 of the most experienced racers. That's absurd, it makes ranking just another version of points. Gains should be at least partially based on who you're beating. I have to continue this in another box...
Hey there, great feedback! (Both posts) I definitely think the skill system could use a bit more work. Right now, it's based strictly on your completion time for each race, regardless of who all is in that race, but we might be able to add some sort of ELO component so it goes up faster if you're playing against skilled opponents. I'll also see about rewarding players for 2nd/3rd finishes, I agree that they deserve something better. [-fex]
Thank you for such a detailed answer. We will think how we can improve the game.
