As many said, magic attacks are borderline worthless, thus as is mage gear. Having to drag em is just straight up annoying, and they take way too long to cast when most enemies can be 2 shotted w/ normal attack. It leaves out a whole part of the game.
So, some suggestions:
Make hotkeys and/or let the player just click the spell. It'd be way easier.
Then I'd allwing spells to be cast from like, a space away, and have the monster move and engage the player, especially if suggestion 2 wasn't implemented. Besides, magic's just meant to be ranged.
This, and/or
Make magic instant cast, and have a cooldown time, kind of like the time between attacks; it would be even more interesting if having agility or intellect or some stat would lower the cooldown between. If not, maybe make some way to significantly lower cast time.
Couple this with suggestion 1, with maybe less damage. It would provide variety from just swinging away at enemies.
Yeah, I'm sorry, after playing through once I realized how ridiculously OP chaos fire mages were. I then played one of those and finished the game having not lost 1 single battle, and I ended as the great mage, I killed every single other mage in the final battle, and ended up with a fame rank of "legend" and a negative rep. of freaking "satan".
My point is, giving the ability to drain special is pretty damn OP, but giving that along with an ability that lets you shoot 15 bolts one direction and 10 the other which destroys literally just about anything, and an ability that makes each bolt deal double the damage of the last one that hit, as if it wasn't already crazy enough. (I was getting up in the 200 damage range sometimes...and I mean with the single last bolt, that's not including all the ones leading up.)
Point is, chaos mages are ridiculous. I'm pretty sure that by the end a chaos mage could beat just about anything that fit within the parameters of the rules of the game.
Holy crap, I finally finished this thing, I didn't start needing help until like level 37, then I started needing hints from walkthroughs...esp the last level, that was complicated as hell...
either way though, awesome game. GJ.
Believe it or not there's already a game on this site that not only involves a springy ball on a tether, it's also actually a game and has upgrades and w/e. I think it's called sproing as a matter of fact.
I think you should be able to aim the cannon, but I think that the claw should stay the way it is, and both should be anchored in the center. Plus I'd recommend doing it something like you can switch between different types of "ammo", cause having piles of jellyfish on top of any powerup fish really makes em pointless.
I'm not positive on this, but I get the feeling uploading a "hacked" version of another person's game isn't ok, so I'm gonna flag this just in case...
And if for some reason it is ok, it's still pretty lame to upload a hacked version of a game that's already on the site.
I'm also get the feeling you didn't get permission from fizzy to "hack" his game, so no matter how you look at it this isn't going to be up for long.
only problem I identified was that basically chaos ensues among all the survivors if any zombies whatsoever attack, I once had supposedly 38 unused survivors, and yet 100% of my bases said they had no one in em. Hell, I just restarted, as there wasn't even anyone bringing my snipers ammo anymore.
Anyways though, I won the campaign, I'd like to see that be a little longer, and perhaps a little more selection as to things to build and defensive stuff. All in all though a very good game.
yeah, I just started building as many farcasters as I could right in the middle of the map, and I ended the game with 0 enemies getting through, and what I'm guessing is the max number of points, cause when I submitted my score all the other top all time record holders had the same score as I did...I submitted as zuke btw, just for gloating purposes.
I win. Good game, I'd just recommend having ammo pickups contain more actual ammo. I was only getting, like, 4 shotgun ammo per pickup and 10 handgun ammo. The only one that was ok was the sub machine gun with about 50 ammo per pickup.
There should really really be a few things added...
There should be a map of all the area that you've explored that you can pull up.
There should really, really be upgrades to make this feel more like a dungeon-type game.
There should be like character classes with different specials and stuff.
There should be actual items and an inventory to store em in.
There should be equipment that you can equip your character with.
If all that stuff was added, this could be a really good and inventive game.
Unfortunately just using the space-invader type battle system isn't near enough to make a very good, solid game.
