I also don't know why I keep saying the same thing over and over again. Probably because my mind is fried from playing the same game over and over again. Over and over again.
I'm not really sure why I have to pay essentially the same game over and over again with days tacked on and a higher sales goal. The earlier days never become any harder, so once you've got a good strategy down you're basically playing the same game over and over again.
Hmm, well, that was interesting. I started off at the ending. Easiest badges I've ever gotten. Of course I have played this before (can't remember if it was somewhere else or here before it got badges) so it wasn't a spoiler or anything for me. But i wasn't given the option to select a stage so I figured I didn't have a save file for Kongregate.
I don't get the steel girders. Theoretically they should be stronger, but I think they're also too much heavier than the wood components. I keep having steel constructions collapse under their own weight, when almost identical wood constructions do just fine.
Good God, these petitions! Folks, here's how adding badges gets determined (rough estimate based on casual observation): Popularity of game: 75%; Willingness of developer to add Kong API: 25%; Petitions: ABSOLUTELY FREAKING NOTHING.
I use all of my boost to go for height, then dip just until my speed hits 200 and level off until just before my speed starts dropping. I reached 6,000 only having to pull up once, and that was right before the end (~5,500).
I totally agree with HuntersDad. My general rule of thumb is that if you can't tell the player everything he needs to know about the game within the actual game (with the possible exception of, say, high score tables), then guess what? You're not done making the game. This game opens popup windows so often, and without letting the player know that a given button opens another site, that I almost want to flag it. Apocalypse now? More like a-pop-up-lypse now, amirite?
I was just thinking...the save game transfer option is awesome, but wouldn't it allow people to cheat if/when this game gets badges? HAY EVERYONE SAVE WITH IMPOSSIBLE ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED COPY/PASTE kljaf9p23pjf3j4293jfla etc.
The round timer continues to advance when the game is paused, and won't actually stop until it hits the end of the current round. So if you pause the game, wait a few seconds, and then unpause it, it'll have the same effect as hitting the "Next Round" button. Not cool, especially on the more difficult maps.
Ugh. A confirm on the firing of heroes would be nice. I just fired Bob instead of looking at his stats like I wanted to, and now it's going to cost me BOOCOO to get him back.
Ah, gotta love the adventure game haters. I PLAYED FOR TWO SECONDS AND THERE WERE NO TITS OR EXPLOSIONS OR SHINY THINGS -00000/5 G2G MOM SAYS IT'S TIME TO TAKE MY RITALIN
I'm still not a big fan of the grind. I like that it's been made less painful, but I still don't like it. As I've mentioned before, I do like the fact that you can continue to grow your abilities even if you can't find a way to beat any new levels (a frustration in both of the first 2 Protector games), but the fact that you really HAVE to do this to progress is a drag.
Early impressions: I like the idea that if I find a map really really hard I can go back to earlier maps to earn some more experience. But I don't like the prospect of having to "grind" maps dozens of times, and right now it looks like that's what it's going to take to get anywhere. Here's an idea: Go with a system like Gemcraft's. Give exp/gold rewards based on how a player performs in a given map, but only allow the player to increase those rewards by beating their personal best. Then change the price of everything accordingly to make it fair.
