Strategy: When you hit a turtle it always seems to go toward the far corner. So buy a sawblade and place it as far down as you can, as far to the left as possible. Then buy a launcher right under it. Buy more saws and put then next to the 1st one and work your way across. Use the turrets and put em above the sawblades. Remember that you can CANCEL your combo with the manual button. Good when your combo just about piddled out and you want your cash to buy more stuff. The clock KEEPS GOING even when buying tho, so buy quick. Put more launchers to the left next to the first one and work it across to the right.
Guide: 1) Play ALL levels on Casual mode first. Its too hard normal+ due to lack of firepower. Once leveled, go back and play on Hard/Challenging. 2) Best first talents is the +shooting speed in Commando and unlock Uzi. Its range blows but builds rage fast! 3) Best ending talents is the Tower tree. Your firepower NEVER gets better as the levels get harder but your towers make up most of your power. You want to improve them, not you. 4) Try to make it so 1 group has a 'short' route and the other group has to take the long way. That way you and your turrets have time to take out each group separately. 5) If not, you take on foes from 1 entrance with minimal turrets and then use lots of turrets to take out the other path. That way you don't have to run back n forth. 6) Venom towers rock hard. They shoot a foe once and then are freed up to shoot a different foe. Foe takes massive damage. Good near entrance. 7) Dont go overkill on mazing. Fences=expensive.
Miniguide: The main cannon is the most cost-effective and useful upgrade. The secondary weapons that shoot straight are all crap because they will hit SOME but not all of the baddies coming from other directions. The flamethrower/scythe is good, but its range is just way too short. So most of the time it does absolutely nothing by firing in the other directions. Your main gun mows down anything in front, so mounting 2 flame/scythe front is useless. Seeker Missiles seem to be the most useful by far. Id start by mounting 1 seeker1 behind you, then 1 to your left and right. Keep buying them and fill in all your slots with seekers. You can upgrade em to level 2 later but its more important to fill out all your slots with seekers. They do wonders for killing tons of bugs while you are busy shooting in other directions.
Was having fun, then Day 18 hit. Holy crap man. Could you make it a bit HARDER?!? I lasted like 5 seconds vs the bad guys that my maxed out throws barely even scratched. Hey, maybe add some foes that cant be damaged at all. That would be even better!!
The tutorial kind of sucks. You need to say, "Do THIS in order to build a tower that actually shoots at stuff so you don't lose level ONE.", instead of all this BS about various ores.
I love the game but it is really too hectic. Is there any way you could add a Pause where you can still give orders and see the friggin board? I mean, if I wanted mad clickfests I would still be playing Warcraft...
STRATEGY: This is a ridiculously hard game. 1) When you can easily beat a level, respec to Magic Tower +50%XP for maximum gain. 2) only your HIGHEST XP per map counts. 3) Boost the gold-stealer hero and always start with him. He gives 150gold during the first 60 seconds and 75 per round so pays for himself quickly. 3) There seems to be an 'armor' that resists the first X damage done. So a few high powered towers is MUCH better than spamming crappy ones. The damage boosts and upgrades are important due to this. 4) The Cannon and Bees towers seem to be the best. Poison over time sucks bad, the Slow is useless, and balista's damage is too weak to even hurt baddies. 5) Magic sucks. It actually costs GOLD to cast spells! So you pay 100g to boost your income by 20% for 10 seconds? Is that worth 6 skill points and a 300gold tower? NO! ----This is a fun game but balance is awful and so is difficulty.
The key to the game is to make sure you are spending your money on improvements and minimizing the money spent fixing and replacing stuff. Puckle guns are pretty awesome. You can unlock them without unlocking the rest of the cannon upgrades and they bring the pain. Putting some caltrops on the side will generally keep their army in a nice tidy line where the cannons mow them down.
At least he removed the stupid 'revenge waves' where they pull hundreds of troops right out of their ass when you are winning. (for normal mode anyways)
GUIDE: Take EARTH king. Start with a hunter in the left corner furthest from the enemies, and fighter in the right corner but a bit further forward. Then, 2 mages next to your king. The theory is that the baddies will be in range of your KING by the time they engage which you want to give the king XP and benefit from his firepower. The 2 mages will restore the king's mana with their aura! SAVE UPGRADE POINTS! Promote the hunter to a bowman. ASAP, promote to the 65 gold Archer. NOW, take all saved upgrade points and boost the archer's ATTACK SPEED. NEVER promote this archer... he has plenty of firepower and you lose the boosts if you go elite! Ideally youd want to promote elite, but in my experience you get killed before you can get the gold. Buy 3 upgrade points and put into archer. Upgrade the fighter to the shielded guy and you can even toss ARMOR spell on him right before engagement. Promote 1 mage to a healer.-For King, buy 2 health, 1 attack, and MAX OUT Armor spell.
I added a new guide as of 7/2010 which gives a complete walkthrough on the best way to get started as well as explaining exactly why certain decisions are made. It even has a few cheats. Enjoy!-----http://www.kongregate.com/forums/3-general-gaming/topics/98102-my-pet-protector-2-badge-walkthrough
Quick guide: Getting the minor heal spell is really important. Once you do, you get to keep it and all other spells. Always decide at level X8 wheter to go to the shopkeeper at X9 because that will bump your starting level up 1. I bailed twice, taking my artifacts and gems due to bad luck with Heal. On the third time with my heal, that let me stay at enough HPs to get the ball rolling since each foe killed = +4 free HPs effectively. AVOID unnecessary fights! Gems disappear when taken and clear that path for you. Avoid chests if there are 2 extra uber dudes equivalent you have to fight, as its generally not worth it. When at merchant, focus almost solely on buying HEALING potions. The other stuff you can usually find, unless it is a BIG upgrade or a sword upgrade.
I highly recommend an autoclicker. Only a few have hold-down-and-shoot-fast capability. Heres the best I found;. works on Win7.............http://insaniquariumguide.com/forum/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=513
So far the Mage is really really weak. He relies way too heavily on talents to do anything. He regularly bites the dust even with rest at 60%. Heck, even at 100% health he STILL loses when grinding. Ridiculous.
