Yeah... 1.6 was more trouble than the game is worth. Not horrible, but not great. 2/5

I quit when some random encounter mage started throwing fireballs that went right past my defenses and did obscene amounts of damage as well as reducing my Special with every hit started killing me no matter how many times I retried or what I did. He started doing it on the fourth round. I don't know what he was, but a combination of massive damage, defense-penetration and "damages Special" is waayyy too overbalanced to have available from round 4. Fortunately, I got my badge for the Skyrim challenge... but this game is broken in favor of whatever kind of mage that guy was.

To build on Jesto's comment... try going to Merrivale (Very Easy - Forest Bugs) and using Zombie Wrath on bugs to make zombies and accumulate rage (since the zombies add to your combos, rage adds up fast and you should be full by the end of the fight), then go past White Wyvern Coast to Tyrath. Corner Tyrath immediately with Zombie Wrath slashes, then hit rage and Zombie Slash him to death. You'll likely need a good weapon from the White Wyvern first, probably .20 or higher.

@DragoeKyte: Yes, damage per second. If a fast weapon has high dps, that means it does less damage overall per hit but the total dps comes from the number of hits connecting. If a slow weapon has high dps, that means it does more damage per hit to make up for the fewer hits per second. Both have their advantages... the former means you lose less of your dps per attack that misses and ensures more crits per sec based solely on number of hits, while the latter can, against weaker targets, get the job done in one hit, and can do more damage per hit AFTER damage reduction from armor is applied (I'm not 100% sure that the enemies in this game have armor, though)... basically, if an enemy has -2 damage armor, hitting him with one 20 damage hammer hit is much better than hitting him with ten 2 damage bullets.

Tedious at best. XP rewards need to be bumped up all around, as level currently plays less of a factor than finding good swords+shields and yellow potions. Most major kills (dragons, princess guards, etc) are only possible if you luck out both on swords and shields AND if you're lucky enough to find a lot of potions. Map is big enough to be punishing to explore in 500 turns for find quests, especially since creatures and loot are generated randomly as you move. 2/5 for a good concept but poor execution.

I'm confused by the term "Equipable Skill." I see no way to equip or unequip any skills. What's the difference between, say, Dermal Plating as an "Equipable Skill" and "Melee Resist +5" as what appears to be an "innate skill"?

Achievements should have a cash reward attached. Grinding is tedious and, in a closed-system game like this (strictly one-player), there's no reason to not add cash rewards.

After a point, the game punishes you for not having just the right combination of characters. After that, you experience quicksand (ref: movie The Replacements), which makes the game increasingly less fun until you just lose every fight (0 fun). The days timer needs to be based on actions and not automatically count down, as well. I'd add a star except you can't give me my half hour back, so 1/5. Days timer fix would do much to resolve this.

I have an idea for a weapon that incorporates something some people have wnated for a while: Jump Jets. You pick the trajectory from your tank as though you were just aiming a weapon, then your tank is launched along that trajectory. Upon landing, your tank emits a ring-shaped explosion around it, doing perhaps 30 or 40 damage or so in an area similar to Phantom's explosion with no land damage. Not an amazing damage weapon, but something people have wanted for a while... a way to bounce/jump/port/whatever around on the screen!

@Flyingman Junior: Get some skill. You could do a perfect digger on me and I could still hit you from almost a full screen away. You just need to practice those high, 100-power arc shots. And maybe whine less. @wolf4eva: Artillery does nice damage. It's better in a 2v2 or 3v3 game. It also does gobs of land damage, which is handy in an of itself. It's a perfectly potent weapon as-is, and if you know anyone who whines about it, feel free to tell them I said they're off their nut.

Disappointing. The game punishes you unless you upgrade in a certain pattern, the funds do not come quickly enough, and repair drones, ultragun and fighters are the only worthwhile investments... turrets get destroyed quickly and are a waste of resources. Also, if you restart from a checkpoint, you should be repaired to some degree. I'll be generous and give it 3/5 for an interesting concept.

Actually, I see the game has recently been updated. I need to amend my prior statement: The game now virtually REQUIRES you use the BT tactic of running around the outer edge shooting in; by the time you reach halfway into the game, it punishes any other tactic too harshly for it to be feasible. Which, sadly, makes it even MORE tedious. 1/5

One word: Tedious. I agree with qwasek, you can't make an average game, then offer to make something better if we rate this up. That's not the way it works. You want high marks? Make a good game.

@CheeryDog: You haven't been reading as you play then. Surviving the 20 rounds is only half the game... the other half is to accumulate as much money as you can. You can't do that without Add Time or talent points. @Everyone: A tip: Use Add Time as much as you're confortable with at the end of every round. Especially, use it till you're down to minimum life at the end of round 20. It'll pad your cash bonus per second.

The game isn't that hard, really. Just be sure to grab the "Suddenly... Mr. Black!" power-up along the way your first time around. The game is 20 levels long, so, by the time you've figured it out, it's almost over... and you can start again with a better idea of what upgrades to buy!

Incidentally, my beef isn't with money. SSL is cheap. Deluxe costs about $2.40 a month. If you people would just put down a Big Mac once in a while, you could enjoy it, too. Get over it.
