Phew, finally finished it. This series really felt epic, and I say that as someone who's read an epic (The Song of Roland). Although I think I had to use a walkthrough at some point for every game, the atmosphere, gameplay, and narrative kept me going. Great job Mateuszkutnik.
I beat Insane mode, and I actually like this game. All the bosses are 1-trick gimmicks, but it's still fun upgrading armor and smashing through them. It'd be cool if there was an info box telling me how skills work before I go into battle with them.
The binary that appears after some puzzles translates to text. We have: "+", "-", "locked", "human recognition pattern", and "this is the end of the subnet defense system". inf_log says: submachine 1 the basement,
submachine 2 the lighthouse,
...,
submachine 6 the edge,
submachine 6 the ancient adventure,
submachine future loop foundation
To get the "Story mode in 18 days" medal, first get all the medals to the left of the square medals (e.g. complete story mode) so you have their bonuses, and max out all the bonuses in the shop. Here's how I got the 18 days medal: On day 1, you should have $50. Buy a Slingshot and Balloon. On the following days, prioritize launchers and stages over body and boosts. Always get max altitude for max money. Bodies to get: Crate -> Ejector Seat -> Omega Penguin (once you can afford 3 slots). Launchers: Coil -> Slingshot -> Grenade -> Powder Cannon -> Aliens -> Nuclear Reactor. Only buy a new launcher when you can outclass the old one in power. Adding a 2nd/3rd/4th stage is better than upgrading the launcher. Stages: Balloon -> Rocket -> Ram Jet. Boosts: Auxiliary Rockets/Pressurized Gas -> Fins, only when you have spare cash after upgrading other things, and stay under your Max Lift for each part. I got it exactly on day 18. Good luck!
Light_Bringer, it'd be awesome to have an indicator for obstacles, both for dodging and hitting. Nothing kills a money run (and thus a 28-day attempt) like hitting an obstacle and getting stalled for 30 seconds/sent flying to the left/right/down.
I can't get the game to work on Firefox, even when I disable add-ons. It's not a Unity problem, because other Unity games work. Any idea what's going on?
I'm not really an idle guy, but seeing all the animations has me interested. Is there a way you could do the diamond system s.t. someone paying attention could complete the game quickly, like through use of the store?
That's on our slate in a future build, but for now we're testing how the gameplay feels and any issues people encounter. Sorry, it will probably be a slow idle game for another week or two :P But yes, the store should provide enough boosts and skips to breeze through the content if that's your bag.
This game is fun, but the unlockables and modes of difficulty are messed up. Hard mode should be the default, because being able to throw multiple grenades at the same time makes the game a heck of a lot more fun. Beating Hard mode unlocks a perk... But you can't use it for Elite until beating Elite? Why in the world not? And why not just give it to me after I beat Elite? It's not like I want to do Normal/Hard again.
I don't like the 1P mode in this game. The tips like "you're invulnerable after being knocked down" are a pack of lies, because both CPUs and fire hurt me many times after I was knocked down. The whole game mode feels like "just keep trying the stage again until your opponents kill themselves or you get an OP weapon." The last stage on Gold Medal difficulty would be nuts even if the CPUs couldn't pick up weapons. I was only able to finish it after killing one enemy with an assault rifle and 2 others somehow killed themselves. I'd feel happy about my accomplishment in the face of completely unfair odds, but it feels like there was so little effort put into making 1P that I don't. I know human ingenuity is supposed to account for a lot more than AI, but in the face of superior computer aim, timing, reflexes, and numbers, it just doesn't. Just make the fights fair, please. Or at least not as bad as 2:1 against.
