Lots of fantastic parts, but it gets pretty tedious after level 20 or so. Needs something to change the dynamics of the levels other than just making more powerful guns or aiming in more directions. Maybe a map to move around on rather than a flat grid. The guns customization is a bit too much, you can easily destroy everything with the grey machine guns & a bunch of reload speed.
Decent game, the mechanics and puzzle pieces are well done but it's just too easy to win. Hopefully SB2 will use all the pieces to build larger maps & more complex puzzles.
Another ridiculous, boring combination testing game! JOY! My favorite part is how I can make combos like ash a million ways and every time I do, it takes me out of the combo screen so I have to write down every stupid pattern I've tried so I don't get lost. This isn't a game, this is a patience test with a few clever combos and quotes. Can't wait till the third version with ten times as many possibilities. 1/5
My only minor complaints: 1- It gets very easy to win ~ 4th set of planets. You just have so much money that you can buy & max out a dude pretty fast. 2- The last reward is pointless. I don't have any use for it, even earlier in the game. 3- Planet impact damage 4- Hard badge for all 50 *s 5- The mine is really hard to place sometimes, not sure why. Click click click etc, finally it sets.
Concept is great, physics are good, love the shattering rock effects but it's just a bit too easy. Don't know if it needs more levels or more challenge elements like the hostages (awesome addition) or some variation on the structure.
So don't put three turrets over three springboards on the far left side. You get an infinite bounce + shoot + bounce. I guess I'll get to 100K at some point, but it's going to take for-ev-er. :)
IT's not bad, it just has a few issues. Big one: can't see symptoms & disease list at the same time. Another big issue: If you have 1 disease with a symptom, as soon as you see that symp you're done. Example = weight loss. If you have colorectal cancer as a diagnosis and anyone shows up w/ weight loss it's instantly cancer. Pallor = cancer. Weight loss = butt cancer. No other options. Need a "don't know" option or some kind of consult option.
Honest review: This game is 50 awesome things thrown in a bag... but they don't add up to awesome. There's too much disconnected stuff. It's too easy. There's way too much you never need to use. There's no volume. Essentially you dump everything into sci/finances until you get the moon base, then dump everything into science. I loved parts of this game, but if you're exploring the patsies tab out of boredom waiting for the final mission to finish then patsies weren't an integral part of the game. Ditto world maps: clearly there's some reason you'd want to kidnap people or use other powers, but why bother? It never becomes necessary and the payoff seems so limited. So gripe, gripe, gripe: it's a good game with fantastic ideas that never seem to gel. If you're making a Mastermind 2 or anything similar, make the rewards for these other actions clear & valuable!
This game really needs some kind of permanent upgrade system. Spending 5 minutes wandering and looking for health, then dying because I've got a fleet of warships over my head doesn't inspire me to start over as a minnow.
Issues: The Brits are overpowered, the Persians are awful because of the range of the cantonists vs. the range of the grenadiers. Yes, the repath command & pickle gun makes it possible to win as the Persians, but the issue is that using them is difficult because everyone has a rifleman who's outside the range of your best gunners.
I don't get why this is getting so many "great game" comments. It's interesting and the combinations are sometimes interesting or amusing, but there's no skill or challenge involved. It boils down to tedious looping through possible cominations to find the next hit. In what way is that FUN? Getting a dinosaur or dragon doesn't net you a creature to use to accomplish something, it gets you a tile with a picture on it that you have to go attempt to plug in to every tile you've already made to make new tiles. Rinse, repeat. Give me something to DO and I'll call it a game.
Game is pretty and complex, but you can beat it with one wizard (the energy trainee you start with) just by piling points into magic use and elemental swaps to get the best attack type on each level. I beat every level with almost no effort (38 wins 6 losses: 3h 36m), bought nothing except a the coins that give you tons of magic use bonus and ignored every other hero in the game.
You have to get rid of the elemental swap items ENTIRELY and nerf the magic use bonus & up the wisdom & other skill bonuses. Otherwise, all the other features of the game are useless. New heroes? don't need them. Search for cool items? I can buy the only stuff I need. Steal? Loot? Nope, why bother? There's just way too much not worth doing.
5 evades in a row: Have the anti bullet & teleporter dq, then kill everything EXCEPT ground based gunners, leave them for last. You should end up with 2 or 3 at least. You should be able to line them up so they fire at roughly the same time, then dash evade through their bullets, then instantly teleport to the other side of the screen (top corner). By the time they reverse and attack again, you should be able to repeat. Do this a few times and you'll see the popup award for untouchable.
700K -> stop going for 45degree hits and start going for low shots at max power. Equip the ninja headband, metal bracer and walkman or barrel. The idea is to hit a cannon or berzerker very early while you're going super fast (hold right as well). I got 32000 feet UP at super speed and didn't hit the ground until nearly 200k feet. If you don't get a boost, you'll stop quickly and get to try again.
