I've found that creating a separate mana farm with non-damage oriented traps is much more effective than mixing mana gain into your damage gem. I use mana/chain hit/slow, which keeps the enemies alive and well to be squeezed for all they're worth as they creep slowly through my mana pit. Ensure that your damage gem is well away from your farm, or if you use a tower, take the gem out until the creeps pass your farm. Using this method, I had enough mana by round 65 to get x4 mana multiplier along with the equivalent of roughly 6-8 grade 12 gems... hard to keep track, I used several grade 12s to activate shrines to get the "kill monsters with shrines" amulets.
Nice game, definitely a good test of ones reflexes. It does lack the depth some nifty extras might add (story, upgrades, achievements, etc.) but I'll happily rate it a 4/5.
This one is a simple game that might be nice to kill some time with, but there are a couple of issues with the game. Sometimes different color bugs spawn one on top of the other, making it difficult or impossible to touch one without touching the other. I also noticed an issue where a red and a blue were almost on top of each other. I touched the blue, and gathered it, but my cursor became and acted as though I'd touched a red bug (the red bug had not been gathered). Neither is game breaking, but both detract from the quality of play the gamer gets. Overall, perhaps 3/5 is a good score for this one.
I saw a few glitches, (once after turning during a jump I became paralyzed until struck by an enemy) and I'll note that the game is not well explained. Levelling up doesn't really seem to do anything for you, though finding items does power you up as in metroid. Combat takes to long and is either a simple matter of pressing the attack button or involves taking a series of unavoidable hits, depending on the enemy. Overall not a very good game, although the graphics are very nice.
This game is simply boring. Victory is always a forgone conclusion, which makes one wonder why they bother slogging through the intolerably slow battles. Yes, the Move All command is a big improvement, but it's simply not enough to compensate for animations that are both time consuming and lack-luster in terms of graphical appeal.
I didn't run into any bugs, but it's not very easy to control the ship... it responds sluggishly, and there's no way to aim the gun besides tapping up or down in the general direction of the enemy and hoping you hit them.
Pretty decent canabalt style game. The difficulty (speed) ramps up more quickly than most I've played once you start busting stars. The stars themselves, along with your dash attack, lend enough personality to make this one slightly better than average.
*Small Spoiler* Well I finally got to the point where I was tired of playing this game (Seriously, make the main story a more reasonable portion. You can always add extra content afterward for those who want it.) and rushed through the remaining 20-30 levels to get to the end. After pylon 4 I was expecting something big, bad, and nasty to come out at the end. Not so much... not even a mid-boss to tide us over. And the new mode I psuedo-unlocked is premium only. Great... not the worst ending ever, but I'm not exactly happy with it. Downgraded rating to 4/5.
This game does have very nice graphics, but it's otherwise just terrible. Playing as a warrior my game consists of walking forward, holding down attack button for a couple seconds, and repeating ad infinitum... it gets old fast. Add to this that warrior skills actually get worse as you upgrade them (longer cooldowns and higher mana costs in exchange for a marginal damage increase) and you have a boring game that's broken as well. 2/5 is really the best I can offer this one.
I keep seeing people write that red gems are no good for "higher levels and higher waves." Being that I'm 3/4 through the game (jeez this is a long game) and the red component of my damage gem still provides well over half my gem damage by the end of any given level (maxed waves, and everything else) just how high is "higher?" Are we talking Endurance mode, or something?
I take it back... if you're making an orange gem farm, don't mix it with lime. The dual-gem speed and extra hits just don't compensate for having the mana-per-hit cut in half or less. However I still strongly advocate making an actual orange gem farm rather than mixing orange into your damage gems. You'll get more mana gain for less spent, and you won't dilute the effectiveness of your killer gems.
